Our Secure Future (OSF) is delighted to announce the inaugural Women, Peace and Security National Action Plan Academy.

On May 20, 2024, Ambassador Donald Steinberg, Executive Director of OSF’s Male Allies for Women, Peace and Security (MAWPS) program, spoke at the USAID Global Gender Engagement Program on the role of male allies in the WPS agenda.

On April 30th, 2024, Our Secure Future led a thought-provoking event aimed at exploring and addressing critical issues surrounding the institutionalization of Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) principles within the United States Government.

Two dozen international civil society organizations have come together to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment in the field of international peace and security.

On March 4, 2024, Our Secure Future and the Atlantic Council’s Transatlantic Security Initiative, in the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security, co-hosted a hybrid public event on the role of the Women, Peace and Security agenda in today’s security landscape.

On February 15, 2024, Our Secure Future, in coordination with the bipartisan Congressional Women, Peace and Security Caucus, held an in-person, off-the-record briefing at the U.S. Capitol on “Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Policy Responses to Conflict-Related Sexual Violence (CRSV) Globally.”

On December 14, 2023, Our Secure Future (OSF) convened a small closed door roundtable discussion with gender and WPS advisors about the upcoming paper: “Institutionalizing Women, Peace and Security: The Role of Gender and Women, Peace and Security Advisors in the United States Government.”

On December 13, Ambassador Donald Steinberg and Our Secure Future (OSF) Director Sahana Dharmapuri delivered a presentation to a National Defense University (NDU) student affinity group, Women in National Security (WINS).

On November 7, 2023, Our Secure Future (OSF) and the Atlantic Council hosted a public event, “Assessing the 2023 U.S. Strategy on Women, Peace and Security.”

In July, Our Secure Future Director Sahana Dharmapuri participated in the 2023 Sasakawa USA Emerging Experts Delegation (SEED) Program. The 2023 SEED Program focused on Women, Peace and Security (WPS).

On May 5, 2023 Our Secure Future presented at Alliance for Peacebuilding’s PeaceCon 2023.

On June 20, 2023 Our Secure Future and the McCain Institute hosted an online event, “Women, Wagner Group, and War Crimes– Applying a Gender Lens to Russian Aggression in Ukraine and Syria,” to discuss how a Women, Peace and Security lens is essential to the conflict in Ukraine.
