The Women of V-Day: How local activists effect change in their communities

Women globally are creating change through local leadership.

Every day, women around the world are creating positive change in their communities, whether it means battling gender-based violence, fighting climate change, or combatting human trafficking.  These initiatives—and the women that lead them—show us how women are affecting change through their full and meaningful participation in the Women, Peace and Security movement.  V-Day, a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls, hosts events in over 200 countries and conducted in 28 languages. One Billion Rising, a campaign that grew out of the V-Day movement, is the biggest mass action to end violence against women in human history.
