OSF Director participated in a panel at this year’s Women’s Funding Network Conference on Feminist Perspectives of Failures in Afghanistan.
On September 23, 2021, OSF Director, Sahana Dharmapuri, participated in a panel at the 2021 Women’s Funding Network (WFN) Conference, “The Future is Feminist.” The panel, titled “Foreign Policy: A Feminst Perspective on the Failures in Afghanistan,” featured Patricia Foley-Hinnen, Patricia Cooper, and Nargis Nehan, along with Sahana. The panelists discussed the situation on the ground in Afghanistan and the ongoing consequences of the U.S.’s withdrawal.
Sahaha specifically focused on the Women, Peace and Security Act, and the U.S. Government’s commitment to implementing the Women, Peace and Security agenda. The other panelists discussed their advocacy work in Afghanistan, and Nargis shared the reality of being an Afghan woman forced to flee her own country. The audience was very engaged, carrying on conversations in the chat and asking insightful questions.
