Dean Peacock is Director of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom's initiative to confront militarized masculinities, a multi-country project in partnership with the MenEngage Alliance. He is also a Senior Fellow at Promundo, a visiting scholar at the Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies at the University of San Diego, an honorary senior lecturer at the University of Cape Town's School of Public Health and an Ashoka Fellow. He is recognized as a global leader in efforts to engage men and boys in achieving gender equality. He has established and coordinated ground-breaking local, national, and global initiatives, and has contributed to policy shifts within national governments, the UN system, and amongst bilateral donors. In this video, Dean talks about his upbringing in South Africa witnessing and participating in protests, how he came to understand the impact of masculinity on war and peace, and much, much more.
