OSF Director moderated a panel on the topic of redefining security at the annual meeting for the Peace & Security Funders Group.
On Tuesday, May 18, Our Secure Future Director, Sahana Dharmapuri, moderated a panel on redefining security at the Peace and Security Funders Group (PSFG) annual meeting. The event was attended by over 35 participants. The panelists included Cameron Chisholm, Executive VP at DT Institute; Michelle Dover, Director of Programs at Ploughshares Fund; and Kerri Kennedy, Associate General Secretary for International Programs at American Friends Service Committee.
The discussion focused on the panel’s vision for security and how it could be redefined to be more inclusive and more effective. The panelists expressed the importance of creativity, arguing that funders must be willing to take risks and provide flexible funds. They spoke about the need for a feminist approach to security, that looks at the impact on all people.
The group then broke into smaller groups to discuss lessons learned and the ways in which those lessons could be applied to their own organizations.
