OSF Director presented report at gender equality and maritime sector event hosted by the Harvard Kennedy School Women’s Network and W3D.
On September 29, 2021, OSF Director, Sahana Dharmapuri, presented the OSF report, Charting a New Course: Women, Peace & Security and the Maritime Domain, at an event hosted by the Harvard Kennedy School Women’s Network (HKNWN) and Women in Defense, Diplomacy and Development Network (W3D). Sahana was a founding member of the W3D alumni organization.
The event was titled “Transforming the Maritime Sector through Gender Parity.” The panelists were high-ranking members of the maritime sector -- Azara Al-Hassan Prempeh, Chief Diversity Officer of the International Maritime Organization; Isabel Lirola-Delgado, Professor for International Public Law at the University of Santiago de Compostela; Johannah Christensen, CEO at the Global Maritime Forum; and Maria Damanaki, Former EU Commissioner for Fisheries and Maritime Sector. The event was well-attended and the panelists answered questions ranging from their own personal experiences in the maritime sector to gender equality initiatives.
