“We must get more women into leadership positions around the world. We must do better in having women have strong voices and articulate those voices at the table…We need to empower them. We need to hold firm to our commitments on women, peace, and security, and say that if women’s voices aren’t present, we’re failing.”

After 14 years as a Senior Gender Adviser to the United Nations with the Department of Peacekeeping, Clare Hutchinson is now the NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for Women, Peace and Security. Taking office in January of 2018, Hutchinson facilitates coordination and uniformity of NATO’s policies in relation to their contribution to the Women, Peace and Security agenda.
