Peace and Security Funders Group
May 2-5, 2017
Washington, D.C.

On May 2, 2017, Sahana Dharmapuri, Director of Our Secure Future, and Ellen Friedman, Executive Director of the Compton Foundation, presented at the Annual Meeting of the Peace and Security Funders Group, as representatives of the Gender and Conflict Working Group. The annual meeting provides an opportunity for members to connect with new and existing partners, engage in strategic discussions, learn about emerging issues, and collaborate on projects.

Specifically, the Gender and Conflict Working Group aims to educate funders on the importance of including women and gender issues within peace and security in order to maximize funding impact. The Working Group is focused on three overarching goals:

  1. Increasing the awareness of the role of women in the peace and security issue-area
  2. Helping to expand the field of “women, peace and security,” with a particular focus on funder affinity groups and the PSFG
  3. Identifying specific national and international policy moments where the Working Group can play a role
