This week, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg appointed Clare Hutchinson as the Alliance’s new Special Representative for Women, Peace and Security.  In a statement released through NATO, Stoltenberg praised Hutchinson for bringing “a breadth of experience to the job,” including “more than ten years of experience as a Gender Adviser for the United Nations, including in Kosovo and Lebanon.”

Indeed, Hutchinson’s reputation precedes her. In the video above, Hutchinson discusses the impact of gender teams on UN peacekeeping missions internationally. It’s a concept near and dear to our own hearts, since we’ve been particularly vocal about the impact more women can have on the success of peacekeeping operations. We can’t wait to see the results she’ll bring to NATO, and to the Women, Peace and Security agenda moving ahead!
